Open Work Orders¶
To view all of the available Open Work Orders in the ShopEdge system, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Users will be able to view all of the available Open Work Orders in the system including details such as the W/O #, Type, Job #, Tooling Item, Description, Component, Reason, Reason Description, Original Reason, Due On date, Assigned To, When, Overdue status, Problem Description, Work Instructions, Issued By, Issued On date, Requested On Date, Requested By, Estimated Hours, Current Hours, the Prev. W/O #, and the Start status.
Note
Users have the ability to change what information they are able to view by clicking on the button.
Modifying an Open Work Order¶
To modify an Open Work Order, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to modify and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Select in order to make changes to the selected Open Work Order.
The Work Order window will appear.
Users can make adjustments to the Reason, Requested By, Assigned To, Estimated Time, Estimated Cost, and Due On date fields.
Description Tab¶
To make changes under the Description tab, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Use the available textbox to add, make changes to, or delete the Description details for the selected Open Work Order.
Work Instructions Tab¶
To make changes under the Work Instructions tab, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Use the available textbox to add, make changes to, or delete the Work Instruction details for the selected Open Work Order.
Attachments Tab¶
Under the Attachments tab located on the Work Order window, users have the ability to add or delete Attachments.
To add an Attachment, make sure to select the tab.
Click on the button located at the bottom of the window.
The Select File To Attach window will appear. Users must select an Attachment from their computer and click on the button.
The selected Attachment will be added to the list.
To delete an Attachment, make sure to select the tab.
Locate the Attachment you wish to delete and highlight the appropriate row. Use your Delete key and the selected Attachment will be deleted.
Purchase Orders Tab¶
Under the Purchase Orders tab, users have the ability to add or delete Purchase Orders to the selected Open Work Order.
To add a Purchase Order, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Click on the button located at the bottom of the window.
The Purchase Order Lookup window will appear. Users can select a Purchase Order by highlighting the appropriate row, then click on the button.
The selected Purchase Order will be added to the list. If users wish to view the details of that Purchase Order, simply double-click on it and the Purchase Order detail screen will appear.
Note
If users wish to make changes on the Purchase Order detail screen, please see Purchase Orders under the Purchasing module.
To delete a Purchase Order, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Locate the Purchase Order you wish to delete and highlight the appropriate row. Use your Delete key and when the system prompts you, select Yes.
The selected Purchase Order will be deleted.
MRO Items Tab¶
Under the MRO Items tab, users have the ability to add or delete MRO Items to the selected Open Work Order.
To add an MRO Item, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Click on the button located at the bottom of the window.
The Item Lookup window will appear where users can select an Item and then click on the button to add the Item to the selected Open Work Order.
The selected MRO Item will appear in the list.
Users are able to edit the Item, Description, Unit of Measure (U/M), and the Quantity by clicking in the available textboxes.
To delete a MRO Item, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Locate the MRO Item you wish to delete and highlight the appropriate row. Use your Delete key and when the system prompts you, select Yes.
The selected MRO Item will be deleted.
Costing Tab¶
Under the Costing tab, users are able to select an Item and enter in a Production Job # for it.
To do so, make sure to select the tab located on the Work Order window.
Select an Item using the available drop-down menu, and then enter in a Production Job #.
Once all the necessary modifications have been made, make sure to click on the button. The Open Work Order will now be updated accordingly on the Open Work Orders screen.
Closing an Open Work Order¶
There are two ways to close an Open Work Order in the ShopEdge system.
The first way is to click on the button located at the bottom of the Work Order window.
Click on the Close option from the drop-down menu.
The Close Work Order window will appear. Users must select a Closed-On date and who the Open Work Order is being Closed By using the available drop-down menus. They must also select whether or not the Work Order is complete and enter and necessary Closing Notes.
Once the necessary fields are completed, click on the button to complete closing the Work Order.
The selected Work Order will now be closed and removed from the Open Work Orders screen.
The second way is to navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to close and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Users must select the option.
The Close Work Order window will appear. Users must select a Closed-On date and who the Open Work Order is being Closed By using the available drop-down menus. They must also select whether or not the Work Order is complete and enter and necessary Closing Notes.
Once the necessary fields are completed, click on the button to complete closing the Work Order.
The selected Work Order will now be closed and removed from the Open Work Orders screen.
Deleting an Open Work Order¶
To delete an Open Work Order, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to delete and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Users must select the option in order to delete the selected Open Work Order.
A Confirm Delete window will appear to verify that you would like to delete the selected Open Work Order. To confirm, users must click on the button.
The selected Open Work Order will be deleted.
Entering a Timecard for an Open Work Order¶
Users have the ability to enter a Timecard to an Open Work Order. To do so, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to enter a Timecard for and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Users must select the option.
The Tooling Time Reporting screen will appear where users can enter in a Timecard.

Once the Timecard is completed, make sure to save before exiting the screen.
Printing an Open Work Order¶
To print an Open Work Order, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to enter a Timecard for and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Users must select the button.
The Print window will appear where users can select the appropriate Printer and Printer Settings and then, click on the button to Print the selected Open Work Order.
The selected Open Work Order will be printed.
Print Preview¶
To Print Preview the Open Work Order, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to view before printing and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Users must select the option.
The Preview screen will be displayed for the selected Open Work Order.
Users have the ability to view an Open Work Order before it is printed as well as use the available tools located on the Tool Bar. The Tools include Refreshing the page, Printing, viewing the Print Layout, Page Setup, Exporting Files, and adjusting the Page Zoom view.
View Change Audit¶
To view or change the Audit for an Open Work Order, navigate to the tab and click on the icon. The Open Work Orders screen will be displayed.
Locate the Open Work Order you wish to view before printing and right-click on the appropriate row. A menu will appear with multiple options. Users must select the button.
The Change Audit window will appear. Users are able to select a Work Order as well as Work Order Fields to Show Changes for by using the available drop-down menus. The Changes will be populated.
Click on the button when you are finished viewing the changes for the selected Open Work Order.
